Saturday 14 January 2017

We are off and running in 2017.

In Math, the class is learning about measurement, time and temperature to be more specific. In grade 3, the expectation is to know how to tell time in 5 minute increments and to recognize benchmark temperatures. Before jumping right in to that, we spent a block reviewing what we already know.

In Language, we are finishing up our unit on procedural writing before we get started on  Question Answer Relationships (QAR).
Here, the students are following a procedural text on how to make an origami frog

Examples of the finished product

In Science, we reviewed the first 4 of the 6 kinds of forces we are exploring. Gravity, friction, buoyancy and muscular force. Ask your child what kind of force is being used in photo a-b and in photo c.

In the Arts, our class has begun a unit in Drama. Below you will see our class divided into two plays practising reading through their scripts for the first time. Ask your child what character he/she is playing to see if there are props that can be brought in from home.

A FEW REMINDERS.......
  • Pizza Day is this Tuesday for those who ordered the special lunch.
  • There will be an Epiphany Mass at the school this Tuesday at 10:15am in the gym. All are welcome.
  • St. Rita Winter Carnival will be this Thursday January 17th. Please dress extra warm as we will be outside for most of the morning.
  • Library books are always due every Monday so we can take books out on our Tuesday time slot.
